James was one of the leading stars of the women’s division from 2003 to 2010, and she recently returned for a one-off NXT match against Asuka at Take Over: Toronto in November.
Throughout their relationship, they've shared a handful of extremely cute moments together, but how exactly did their friendship turn into romance, you ask?
I recently got the chance to chat on the phone with John while he promoted Tapout gear for JCPenney in NYC, and he revealed that all it took was a simple question.
"Honestly, I could not ask for it to be any other way." This will be Cena's second marriage; he was married to high school sweetheart Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009-12.
It will also be a second union for Bella, who mentioned on "Total Divas" in 2014 that her quickie Las Vegas marriage when she was 20 to her own high school sweetheart was annulled three years later.
John Laurinaitis, the former wrestler who’s now married to the mother of Nikki and Brie Bella, was wondering about the wisdom of a pre-nup.
John Cena, who’s been dating Nikki Bella for years, chimed in with some wisdom.
“I think that being adults and being professionals …
it’s such a tight-knit thing, that’s the reason why so many people in the industry fall in love in the first place, because you see each other every day, you hang out with each other, you don’t get a chance to … “We’re all grown adults, and I would hope that — and I’m pretty sure that — it’s going to be pretty awesome, because I’m sure that I’m going to have to work with Nikki in the ring and I know that we could do some really amazing stuff.” James also revealed she had been attempting to make a comeback sooner and made contact with WWE multiple times, but she wasn’t in the company’s plans for nearly a year prior to her return at Take Over. About a year before that, I had been doing that a couple of times … I’m sitting in Orlando airport, waiting for our flight and [WWE exec Mark] Carrano calls me and I’m like, ‘Are you serious right now?
and I’m just like, ‘Aw, maybe they just don’t want me,'” James said.
