Hi guys Last night I turned on my sky had box to find that it was updating software ..But unfortunately it just keeps trying to update and can't get it to complete this update .. If you're updating over the air, connect your device to a power source so that it won't run out of power during this process.
In some cases, you may see the progress bar complete, then start again.
You need a serial cable to connect between the RS232 socket on your PC and the RS232 socket on the back panel of the PVR80.
Maplins Cable If your PC doesn't have an RS232 serial socket, you can use a USB converter cable.
(Note the system requirements - a driver may not be available for Windows 7).
NOTE: Although I get emails from people telling me they've successfully updated the box with a USB-Serial adapter cable, I probably get as many telling me of problems.
I guess all adapter cables are not the same and it has to be trial and error.
Well, this doest not really answer the question, but this is what I finally did, thus accepting this answer.
To be exact I used the Installatron Tool (installatron.com) provided by my hoster, which executes steps similar to "manual update" I guess. I'd suggest turning on the built in developer tools in your browser and monitoring the network requests being made.
