There is no clicking, all cables are fine, I tried different sata ports including power and still nothing.
Expected"I have no clue why it cant find the exact model because I triple checked the model before trying this and I unhooked my primary Western Digital drive while doing this, so I dont know why it cant find it?
Although the interesting thing is that on the box it has the model number as ST3500641AS-RK, but on the hard drive itself the model number is ST3500320AS and that is the number I searched and found out that this is a common problem.
So I downloaded latest OCZ Vertex 3 firmware at: but cannot update it when getting error: Firmware update is not supported on primary drive.
Again, there's a notice at the main page before downloading the firmware saying: Updating the firmware from the toolbox is not supported when Windows is running off the drive you are trying to update. I want to update my OCZ Vertex 240GB 2.02 to 2.36 Do I need to switch from SSD to HDD? You need some imaging software to image the SSd then load the image to your hdd.
For some reason my Seagate hard drive is no longer being recognized by my pc. I have no idea what happened I have not been inside to computer at all and it was working just fine a day or so ago.
I checked seagates website and my model number is not listed under the firmware updates, so I have no idea what happened.
, I looked for firmware updates and found an update for the SSDs (20001L00 - A10), but after installing these updates, I still see controller errors. If necessary I will request replacement motherboards and SSDs for pretty much all of them.
I am about to reimage them to see if that affects anything, and I'm pulling the SSDs from about 9 of them and installing old 1 rpm SATA hard drives from the surplus parts pile, to see if that makes any difference.
Once installed, you *should* be able to use Magician to update the firmware on your 840 EVO and (hopefully) see its performance come back to where it should be.
